Case study:![]()
This modular hardwall cleanroom was installed at the Getinge premises in Delft. This global leader in medical technology was founded in Getinge, Sweden (1904) and took its first step into medical technology in 1932. Today, the company operates internationally across numerous countries with a personnel base of approximately 10,700 employees.
To ensure maximum efficiency in the cleaning, assembly, and packaging processes of their Bioreactors, this ISO Class 7 cleanroom was constructed inside the engineering department's office space. Because the cleanroom was installed within an office environment, aesthetic appeal and transparency were paramount for this project. The requirement for a cleanroom that could be installed on the first floor without modifications to the existing office space aligned perfectly with our modular cleanroom system.
In addition to technical specifications tailored to Getinge's assembly processes, the cleanroom required a matching visual design. Collaboration between the engineering departments of ProCleanroom and Getinge resulted in a functional and aesthetically refined design focused on transparency. Within the modular hardwall concept, fully transparent wall panels were utilized extensively. The internal ceiling height of 2.2 m creates a spacious atmosphere, while large transparent walls allow ambient natural light to flood the modular hardwall cleanroom, ensuring maximum operator comfort. Complementing the sleek and transparent aesthetic, custom frosted film was applied to the hardwall panels, forming the Getinge corporate logo.
To enable cleanroom personnel and materials to enter and exit seamlessly, the primary section of the facility functions as a goods transfer and gowning area. This space is equipped with stainless steel furniture including lockers and a step-over bench. The physical barrier of the step-over bench, combined with tacky mats and self-closing swing doors, minimizes contamination transfer between adjacent zones. To ensure every stage of the operational workflow is well-lit, 10 flush-mounted LED panels were installed according to a predetermined lighting plan. The cleanroom accommodates multiple workstations equipped with utilities such as power and network access.
In addition to the design, manufacturing, and installation of the cleanroom, ProCleanroom's Accessories & Consumables division provided the full range of cleanroom furnishings and interior equipment. This includes racking units, height-adjustable (stainless steel) tables, cabinets, and trolleys. A full lineup of specialized garments was delivered for cleanroom personnel, including coveralls, mob caps, gloves, and overshoes.
