Case study:
This PanelBloc cleanroom was installed at the IAI industrial systems premises in Veldhoven. A company that has been a long-standing specialist in secure document personalization, IAI has built an outstanding reputation for designing and delivering industrial production systems where lasers, optics, precision mechanics, and control software play a pivotal role.
For IAI, integrating the new cleanroom within an existing section of their facility was essential. The available space was located on the first floor and bisected by a structural roof support—critical aspects to incorporate into the project planning and engineering phases from day one.
One side of the cleanroom faces the building’s front facade, which is composed entirely of (tinted) glass panels, allowing abundant natural light into the cleanroom space. This bright working environment enhances comfort for personnel, prompting the placement of numerous workstations directly along the window wall.
To ensure safe handling of electronic components within the cleanroom, all furnishings (stainless steel tables and cleanroom chairs) were supplied in ESD-compliant configurations. The flooring was also treated with ESD-safe materials.
Furthermore, ESD-safe options were recommended during the consumable selection process (cleanroom wipes, swabs, IPA, garments).
Furnishings and consultation for selecting cleanroom consumables tailored to IAI’s workflow were fully handled by ProCleanroom's Accessories & Consumables department. Working closely with IAI, specialists evaluated the requirements to assemble a tailored package of consumables. Managing this parallel to the facility construction enabled immediate outfitting and operational readiness upon handover—a true full turnkey solution.
Designing the facility for IAI required addressing space constraints from the outset. With IAI seeking to maximize workstation capacity, the main room needed to be as large as possible. Dimensions for the integrated goods transfer and gowning rooms were adapted accordingly to maximize space utilization. An internal ceiling height of 2.9 m provides a spacious feel, while a high-capacity HVAC system delivers full heating and cooling capability—creating a highly comfortable environment for personnel.
All doors feature self-closing interlocking systems, with external doors controlled via an assignable access system. This prevents unauthorized entry and maintains logging of active personnel present in the cleanroom for safety compliance. For enhanced safety, the facility includes integrated smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and a dedicated emergency exit door operable exclusively from the inside.
