Case study:![]()
This large ISO Class 7 PanelBloc cleanroom was installed at a leased facility for an international manufacturer in the semiconductor industry. The facility will be utilized for the climate-controlled storage of highly sensitive high-tech equipment.
In addition to the primary zone spanning approximately 550m², the facility is equipped with a spacious 100m² Material Airlock (MAL) rated at ISO Class 8—specifically engineered around the client's process—and a 50m² Personnel Airlock (PAL) gowning room, also operating at ISO Class 8. Given the scale, layout requirements, and performance specifications, the facility was engineered around the patented PanelBloc® cleanroom system. The PanelBloc panels feature a specialized coating enabling rapid and optimal decontamination, with all walls and ceilings constructed fully flush.
The cleanroom was specifically engineered for the temporary storage of highly sensitive high-tech machinery within a leased property. Because the client does not own the site, establishing a completely self-supporting structure was critical, eliminating the need for building suspensions or structural alterations. To preserve its temporary nature and ensure straightforward dismantling without impacting the existing floor, our engineers opted for cleanroom-compatible interlocking floor tiles.
To ensure target air exchange rates are maintained at full storage capacity while preserving ISO Class 7 compliance and optimal airflow velocity, 50 swirl diffusers were integrated alongside an Air Handling Unit (AHU) equipped with high-capacity HEPA filtration.
This guarantees a constant temperature setpoint of 21°C (+/- 1°C) and relative humidity levels at 50% (+/- 10%). Illumination was another key design priority; to achieve uniform lighting, 140 LED panels were integrated fully flush into the ceiling system according to a tailored lighting layout.
The sensitive high-tech systems stored within this facility are large-scale and heavy. Consequently, extra-wide high-speed roll-up doors were installed, and the Material Airlock (MAL) was generously sized at approximately 100m². Each storage location is supplied with utilities including nitrogen, power, sprinklers, and emergency lighting. An internal ceiling height of 4.8 meters allows large-scale equipment and tooling to enter the cleanroom easily.
All internal doors and high-speed roll-up doors feature self-closing interlocking systems. For maximum safety compliance, the cleanroom is integrated with emergency systems including smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and dedicated panic doors operable exclusively from within.
The superior PanelBloc® represents a premium cleanroom system tailored for demanding applications across high-tech sectors. Patented insulated panels deliver a fire-safe and leak-tight envelope. Fully flush wall and ceiling finishes provide maximum performance in cleanliness and aesthetic presentation.
